Let’s take a trip down the rabbit hole…

In technical terms, a spirit portal is a space containing a 4 dimensional vibratory frequency within a 3 dimensional physical realm. This is where the 4th dimensional plane merges into ours through the aid of what is called an energy vortex. Simply put, a spirit portal is a doorway in the physical world that allows access to the spiritual world.

The existence of a portal needs to rely on a vortex of energy to sustain it. A vortex is an area of mass amounts of energy in a high concentration. This is usually fueled or originated by magnetic, spiritual or sometimes unknown sources to create powerful openings that manifest as spirals of energy. These can be either positive or negative in nature.

Vortexes exist where there are strong concentrations of gravitational anomalies. This can create an area that can bend light and could cause considerable distortion in human energy. Vortexes have also been shown to be associated with ley lines and are considerably stronger at points where ley lines cross.

Vortexes and portals are categorized according to the direction and the nature of the energy flow. Typically there are two types of energetic flow which are either positive or negative.

Positive Portals are ones in which the energy flows upward and out of the Earth. These vortexes are revitalizing and feel very positive. In this case, the energy feels more electric. These positive portals help boost spiritual skills, stretch and expand consciousness, connect us with earth energies, and keep us grounded.

Negative portals are where the energy flows inward, or down, toward Earth. This energy feels heavier and is more negative especially if you are unprepared for this downward impact. As a result, fear is often the emotion experienced at these sites. These portals are becoming more famous, but they are actually less common.

If you encounter a negative portal you may feel as though you are in the middle of an influx of negative emotions. You might experience anger, hate, fear, jealousy, and even depression. This is mostly due to the energy moving downward. Highly sensitive people will become influenced by these energies.

Did you know, mirrors and water are also popular ways of creating a portal to the other side? They are effective as long as the user knows how to use them properly, can control them, and ultimately close them down properly afterwards. If not, you leave yourself open to unwanted guests using the portal. The cause of many portals is because people inadvertently open them and don’t realize what they have done.

What is a portal haunting?

Since a portal is believed to be a door or an entrance way between the spirit world and ours, many ghost hunters believe in the existence of portals, and the link between worlds. It is still a widely debated topic among paranormal investigators as little is yet known to verify their existence. The idea of doorways existing to allow entrances into this plane from another is merely a theory at this point. Science has proven the existence of vortexes of energy, but we have yet to link it conclusively to spiritual realms or hauntings.

The theory is that portals exist because spirits must have such a path in order to gain entrance into the physical plane. I personally don’t buy into the notion that they must be used to gain entrance exclusively. However, if portals do exist, then we can speculate that hauntings, and paranormal activity, would increase near these doorways. If proven true, portal haunting might be indicators of invisible gateways between the Earth and other dimensions, possibly even other worlds.

Because of this, some paranormal investigators believe that entities (beings that appear other-worldly and possibly non-human) captured on ghost photography or videography are indicators that specific areas of our world might have higher paranormal activity, and thus, are investigated as potential places where portals might exist.

It is interesting to note that most near death experiences are recalled as going through a ‘tunnel of light’ during their crossing over from this world to the next. Is a tunnel of light one of these spirit portals, and can it work going in the opposite direction? Is there something similar to allow ghosts or spirits to come back to Earth and visit us? And might there be other tunnels, or portals, that may explain some of the strange types of hauntings that we have witnessed? These are questions that some paranormal investigators seek further answers to.

Some psychics have stated that they too believe there are spirit passageways into our world and believe that, on average, most homes contain at least one portal. Has this idea, coupled with accounts of near death experiences, Hollywood movies, and other various theories about ghosts, helped to create the belief system we have in place regarding portals? It is important to consider all views of evidence.

Many ghost hunters, especially novices, strongly believe in the idea of ‘vortexes’ as evidence that these portals exist due to photographs of streaks of white ectoplasm or mists. These can often be confused for vortexes as many spirits manifest their energy in similar ways. That doesn’t necessarily prove the existence of a portal. It could also be attributed to human error on the part of the one taking the photograph, such as photographing a camera strap, their finger or hair getting in the way, bugs, and even ones breath on a cold night. Just don’t be so quick to assume you have visual evidence of an actual portal of energy.

Portals and vortexes exist more abundantly than we are aware of. We rarely can ever see them with the naked eye but we can measure their effects with scientific tools. We can also sense their effects by their energy vibrations, direction of flow, and the subsequent entities that use them.

Portals are not always required for other dimensions to interact with ours, but rather serve as a convenient way of bridging the dimensional divide thus enabling interaction and experiences between the planes.
